How do I extend my wireless network using multiple AirPort Extremes or AirPort Express units?

The absolute best method (for throughput and performance) is to simply Ethernet connect the multiple AirPorts all to each other via the following setup:
Modem –InternetPort connected to WAN Port — AirPort Extreme — Ethernet Port connected to WAN Port — AirPort Express or Extreme — ….repeat…
Then set the Wireless Settings on the secondary AirPort units to ‘Create a Wireless Network’ and use the EXACT same settings as the Wireless Network on the primary AirPort unit.

Second best, if you cannot run an Ethernet cable between the two AirPort units, is to simply power up the secondary AirPort unit and set its Wireless Settings to “Extend a wireless network” and pick your primary unit’s wireless network from the list of available networks.
This will function just fine, but does run the risk of throughput and speed issues.
