QUESTION
———
I am working on a report in Microsoft Access and would like indicate with a down or an up arrow that the report is sorted on a particular column. How do I show a down or up arrow in the text of the column header?
=========
ANSWER
———
It is very simple to add special characters to documents using the ASCII code for that character.
For the arrowhead example above, simply place the cursor in the document, report, what have you, where you want the special character to appear, and hold down the Alt key, and type the numbers 3 1 using your Number Pad. The ‘Solid Down Arrow’ symbol will appear.
Use numbers 2 5 for a full arrow to appear.
**Note: the numbers must be entered using the Number Pad on your keyboard – it will not work using the number row across the top of the keyboard. (Laptop users, remember you have a NumPad embeded in your standard letter keys JKL, UIO, 789 – just needs to be enabled/activated usually via some special Function Key or sequence on your keyboard)
