I recently upgrade just my Microsoft Outlook install to 2013, and left my other Microsoft Office apps like Word, Excel, etc at the previous version.
Ever since then, Outlook spell check does not work. Most missed is the red underline for misspelled words as I type.
When I go into File tab, Options, and look for the spell check options, they are greyed out.
How do I get it back?
This is because for Outlook Spell Checking to work properly, it requires the matching version of Microsoft Word.
There is a simple, though odd, fix for this though – simply copy winword.exe (any version) into the same folder where outlook.exe is. Almost all of the ‘missing’ features will work when you do this.
