WordPress: Unable to Log In, Cookies Are Blocked Due To Unexpected Output

Every time I try to logon to my WordPress site, I get the following error:
“Unable to Log In, Cookies Are Blocked Due To Unexpected Output”

How do I fix this, or work around it?

Believe it or not, this is due to the wp-config.php file being saved in the wrong format.

Did you recently edit the wp-config.php file using Windows Notepad? An online editor in your web control panel?

Simply re-edit it in Notepad++, TextWrangler, or some other proper text editor, and re-upload.

FYI – this is another good reason why it is always a good idea to make a simple copy of the wp-config.php file before editing, so you can very quickly and easily go back to the original, working file if something funky like this happens.
